ROLLER TECHNOLOGY

Rollers, rollers and coverings from FKM can basically be used in a great many industries - wherever it comes to the production and processing of flat goods. RTC has many years of profound experience particularly in the areas of steel, steel service, stainless steel, copper and aluminum, as well as in the associated mechanical engineering and automotive industry.

Our cylinders and rollers are used successfully in the press shops of well-known car manufacturers all over the world and our know-how is valued there.

Dredging & Mining

We are the right partner for companies that transport sand, gravel, sludge or similarly abrasive goods in flexible lines and are looking for environmentally friendly and cost-effective solutions with short delivery times.

Our polyurethane conveying hose segments with the appropriate accessories enable robust and reliable applications with low lifetime costs.

Compared to the usual hose elements made of rubber, our Riboflex hoses offer three major advantages

- Greater wear layer resistance to abrasion and erosion
- Higher resistance to environmental influences such as exposure to light, ozone or mussel infestation
- No plasticizers or low-molecular oils that could leak out to make it more flexible

Nonwovens are fabrics made from fibers in which the fibers are not woven or knitted, but rather have an irregular, matted structure. The fiber base materials are often treated with an impregnation compound in order to improve the properties in line with the requirements.

There is a special combination of desired properties for a roller covering:

- High mechanical strength, especially cut resistance.
- Elastic behavior in the event of deformation and good resilience.
- Thermal resilience in some cases over 120 °C.
- In many cases resistance in acidic and alkaline media, but also in oil and solvents.

The chemical industry offers a wide range of polyols, prepolymers, crosslinkers and other formulation ingredients. FKM is competent in developing formulations and recipes from these preliminary products that are adapted to customer requirements. The selection of the polyol is particularly important here.

Rotational molding process: An efficient process for manufacturing roller coverings or hose segments from polyurethane

We processes polyurethanes using the rotational molding process. The liquid polyurethane mixture is applied directly to the rotationally symmetrical body to be coated via a nozzle without a mold. The body is slowly rotated, much like a lathe, while the nozzle moves lengthwise, pouring the material in a spiral pattern. The polyurethane does not drip off as it reacts very quickly due to its chemical composition and becomes highly viscous. On the other hand, the reactivity is retained long enough for the filaments to bond chemically to one another. It is even possible to overlay a finished cast layer again to achieve greater thickness or to create a layered structure with different properties.
